Bhaskar Nair is a distinguished entrepreneur, seasoned insurance expert, and prolific author with a career spanning five decades and two continents. He began his professional journey at just eighteen, joining a prominent general insurance company as a trainee. Thirteen years later, his dedication and expertise earned him a place in the management cadre. Soon after, he was posted as a manager in Sierra Leone, West Africa, marking the beginning of a remarkable international career.

Bhaskar honed his leadership skills in Sierra Leone before moving to Liberia to establish operations in a virgin market. This opportunity became a turning point, teaching him the art and science of startups and cementing his reputation as a trailblazing entrepreneur. Despite facing the perils of a bloody military coup, which he and his family narrowly survived, Bhaskar successfully laid the foundation for the company in Liberia.

His next challenge took him to Mauritius, where he transformed a struggling insurance operation into a profitable venture within four years. Back in India, he managed vast operations, overseeing 82 offices and a workforce of 1,500 as Regional Manager in Central India.

Bhaskar’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to Tanzania, where he founded a new insurance company in the recently liberalised market. Under his leadership, the company became the second-largest among 17 players within seven years. Following this success, he co-founded a commercial bank, serving as a promoter, shareholder, and second-in-command while doubling as the company secretary. He later launched another insurance company, his fourth startup, solidifying his legacy as a confident and accomplished entrepreneur. Alongside these ventures, Bhaskar chaired the board of a hospital group, playing a pivotal role in its development.

Marooned in Sydney, Australia, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bhaskar found a silver lining amidst global turmoil. He transitioned out of his business interests and reignited his passion for writing, which he had set aside at the onset of his career. Since then, Bhaskar has authored six books, blending his rich professional experiences with profound insights to inspire readers across the globe.
